This is Castle Frankenstein in the South of Germany near Frankfurt. We were staying in a little village named Reidstadt-Leeheim where Pete's brother John and wife Sue lived. Every other day we visited somewhere of interest and this was one place we visited.
Really spooky place to visit though I am not sure that it is the original Frankensteins Castle though it does look like it.
There is also a Hotel with restaurant where you can get a lovely meal and some of the best coffee and quite reasonably priced as well.
